I had a 91, 000 sales month when I was three months postpartum with my third child. I want to share with you everything that I did during maternity leave to make this possible and what I changed in order to have such a huge sales month, just three months postpartum. Postpartum. If we haven't met before, or it's been a little while I'm your host, I'm Megan men's King. And I am an online business coach for ambitious female entrepreneurs who want to grow their seven figure iconic brand and business and have fun while doing it. I've been in business for over 10 years, started my business as a virtual assistant. And here we are today. I just had my third baby in July. I have three kids under the age of four now. And the way I set my maternity leave up for this postpartum experience was different than I've ever done it. It was a huge success for me and a huge win for my clients. And even though we're going to be talking about the 91, 000 sales month, mostly this maternity leave is important context for that and what led to a huge sales month for me. If you have ever had a child before or are considering it, then You know or you should know having a baby is incredibly transformative from like a cellular level. Like you're a different person. I have found for me, every time I've had a kid, I literally become a different person on the other side of it in a very empowering, cool way. I knew going into this maternity leave experience that I wanted time. I wanted flexibility. To feel how I was feeling and not feel like I had to come back to my clients, potentially when I wasn't ready to, this was my third C section, my third child. I really just wanted to have the space to feel it out. And this Approach to maternity leave was huge for me. What I ended up doing was I basically told all of my clients, my mastermind clients, and my private clients that we were going to pause while I was on maternity leave. And however long I took on maternity leave would just be added on to their contract at the end. So it was really a win win for everyone. Those, um, who are in my mastermind got continued access to each other and the trainings. that already exists. There were just no new coaching calls and no new trainings. Um, so really people just get extra time with the trainings and with each other, which is great. It also meant that I could literally make a decision on when I wanted to come back. When I was actually living it, instead of guessing beforehand, how long of a maternity leave I wanted. So during my maternity leave, it was open ended. I could have taken off four or six months if I wanted to. It could be different for different groups of my clients. And this really, really worked out well for me. It gave me a ton of breathing room for, of course, just recovering and being present with my family with no guilt or no feeling like I had to be doing business stuff. And it just allowed space for a huge transformation. To occur that we will be talking about here. I also really am grateful that I have this flexible maternity leave set up because life has been lifing since having our third baby. When he was less than a week old, we had hurricane barrel here in Houston. We didn't have power for 10 days. We were in a hotel with three kids, including a newborn. I was recovering from a C section. We had our two dogs. It was a whole thing. And then of course, since then life has been lifing recurrent stomach bugs and sickness. As my big kids go to school, then we're entering in kind of the classic cold season. So, you know, it's just been one thing after another. And I'm really starting to make peace with the fact that this is just life. Like life is just, you know, There's always something and that's okay. And that's beautiful. And that doesn't need to be a bad thing. So I'm really grateful for this maternity leave set up because like I said, it gave me a ton of flexibility. I did come back first with my private clients. I was so ready for that. I love coaching. Coaching really fills my cup. And so I was excited to come back. So I came back first with my private clients. Um, and then the next month I came back with the remaining clients in my mastermind. And it was great. Now, one thing I think is important, just if you're listening to this and you are a mom or a parent and you're like, how the hell are you doing this? I am very well supported. So I just, you got to know that right off the bat, off the gate, off the bat, whatever. My husband is a very, very much an equal partner. He works out of the house. He, he's a good guy. He has a job, but he is not just a present parent, but he is fully engaged and an equal partner in taking care of the house and the kids. We also have our big kids, which I think is, I call them my big kids. They're like literally not even two and four yet. Um, but they go to a little Montessori school just for like school hours. But it's great for them to get out of the house and get to make friends and have a whole thing. And then we have a nanny for our newborn. So we are incredibly well supported. And that means that I do have dedicated work time. So when I drop the kids off from school, I basically have from drop off to pickup to do what I want. So that's appointments. That's errands. And that is work. So it's still, um, very much part time. I'm usually working like 12 hours or less a week just with errands and appointments and life, lifing and a kid getting sick and all that kind of stuff. But, um, I'm still very grateful to have that dedicated time where I can sit here and record this. And if a baby cries, I don't have to be the one to go help him. So super helpful. Now let's dig into kind of this timeline, uh, between July when I had my son and September when I had this 91, 000 sales month. So in July, we had the baby. I was fully just present in that in August. I was starting to want to come back to business. I knew a transformation was unfolding. I even knew it before the baby. I was like, this is going to be huge. I know after this baby is going to be my biggest year in business yet. And I was totally right. And it's still about to be the biggest year ever, which is amazing. Knowing that and knowing myself when it was August, I decided to invest the most I've ever invested into joining a mastermind. I've invested. So much money in my business before I've been in masterminds before, but I was really feeling that I was ready for higher level support. I love masterminds where you get one on one support and like a mastermind. It's my favorite style of mentorship. And so I was looking, I knew I was going to join. With one of my mentors and I was just kind of evaluating what was the right fit for me Ended up deciding in August to join a mastermind that didn't even start yet And I was determined to make my return on my investment before the mastermind started because for me I knew joining a mastermind was not that a mentor had a secret That I needed to be successful or that I needed this type of mentorship to hit my goals. It was a lot more about the transaction and the commitment. And honestly, like the challenge too. So I knew for me making this commitment in this transaction, Was going to really help me put my money where my mouth is or whatever that phrase is. Right. Where it was going to be like, we're doing this. And that's exactly what happened. The moment that transaction happened, I actually posted within a couple of days on Instagram that like this week, everything changed is changed. I marked the moment, which is a phrase, a lot of my clients hear me say all the time. And that was a key. Pivotal, pivotal. Gosh, I can't talk all of a sudden. That was a key pivotal moment for me where I was saying to myself, I believe in you. We're going to do this and it's not going to take us a long time. We're going to start doing this very quickly and it can happen that quickly. Let's fucking go. And so Really, for me, it was the transaction and that commitment to myself that set off this domino effect of what led to this huge sales month. Because again, it wasn't that I needed a mentor to accomplish this, but I knew for me, one, I desire it. I love mentorship. I love masterminding. It absolutely helps me move faster, bigger, bolder. It helps me refine the class, you know, foundational skills of growing a business. I was ready to play at that level. Like this is just where we are operating. We're going to be in the room with people who are playing the same way, and that's going to help us grow faster. And so just the transaction alone and the commitment that I'm going to pay this person this amount every month. For a year was huge. Fun fact, since then I've actually upgraded to her highest level mastermind, you know, that's, you know, part of the story here, but the first thing here was really that big, the biggest investment I made at that time set off this domino effect because it made me view everything I was doing differently. I was taking it seriously. I was playing big and I was now financially invested in. Making it happen. So that was really activating for me. And that happened in August. And I made that investment before any new money came in. So it was absolutely another key moment of commitment and believing in myself because I didn't wait to make money in order to make this investment. I made the investment first. I moved first before I had evidence to support it, which is very much like, okay, let's do it. So then that happened in August by September at the end of September, I had hit 1 million in lifetime revenue for my business. And I had that 91, 000. Sales month. And that's new sales in September. So between August and September, this is where we're looking at the most transformation in how I approached business. And of course, strategic changes as well. So when it comes to like making the money, I realized I didn't have the pathways set up for people to pay me to even make the money I wanted to make. I want to make a million dollars in a year. I have to have more ways for people to pay me. And at that time, my main program at the time, it was called rich coach club. It is now the iconic mastermind. The doors were closed, so no one could join. And then beyond that, I had low ticket courses, which I didn't like. Would be take volume to hit the goal I want to hit. And I really don't want to work with any more private clients than I currently am. So that wasn't an option either. So it was a very clear moment of like, yeah, let's do this. We got to open up some pathways. We got to change our products. We, we got to overhaul our offers to make this a reality and an option. And so that was really the first thing I did in the process. Late August, I think is when all this happened. I launched three programs. One of them technically was just opening the doors to the new version of rich coach club, which is now the iconic mastermind, but it overhauled how that program is set up. I rebranded. It has a new intention, new vision, um, raised the investment as well. I also then launched my legendary mastermind, which has a cap. It is my highest, closest proximity way to work with me. And then I launched my membership. So I really overhauled my product suite to make it where people can pay me and join any of these programs at any time. And that was huge. And of course a big, big step. Big part of the sales month was these new pathways finally being open that were previously closed. The cool thing is that I didn't necessarily do anything else different. I had a ton of energetic shifts, which we will actually spend a lot of time talking about next, but it's important to note in this reflection, I didn't do anything else. I didn't start posting on a different platform. I didn't start posting every day. I didn't change the way I create content functionally. I didn't suddenly go viral anywhere. I didn't have a huge email list growth. In fact, I think I've had unsubscribes, but like that's okay. So it's really interesting to just think that just having the right offers in place for my. My, um, dream clients for my business goals, for my lifestyle, and just having those pathways open made such a difference in making this even possible for me because nothing else functionally changed. I will say though. The energetic shift of how I was creating content, what I was saying in my content and how I was making decisions behind the scenes and showing up for my clients. That was really next level for me. I have always been a very like imperfect action. Go be bold, be brave. You, if you've been around, you know, that's my vibe. I really think that it has gone up 10 times since having a baby. And, and over the past couple of months, um, because I truly am viewing my impact and my business's impact. In a higher level, bigger way than I've ever allowed myself to express or believe in before. Um, and that's why I, part of this is the iconic movement and really deciding that my business isn't just a niche, helping people do a thing. It's a movement. It's the iconic movement. It's helping you become your most iconic self, building an iconic business and brand and having a huge impact while making millions. And this idea of being the most iconic me. Was really the identity shift that drove so much of this because my most iconic self does not care What someone else thinks about me? She doesn't care about if this flops or not She doesn't care about if she says the perfect words in an Instagram post. She just posts the thing. She trusts herself She is bold. She is audacious. She's here to make millions unapologetically Right. She takes care of herself. She works out, she wears red, she dyes her hair Brown. There's like a lot that unlocked for me when I realized that I was going to be my most iconic self. And if I'm going to help other women do that too, then I've got to walk the talk every single day. And so the identity shift underneath all of this of becoming my most iconic self of viewing my business as a movement, the iconic movement. Was so, so huge because I started making decisions faster and from a more grounded place. And I also started having the fucking audacity to say what I want to show up fully me and my content quirks and all to speak how I speak in my actual real life, what you're hearing here. And you're probably hearing a baby crying background. Sorry about that. He's fine. Um, but yeah. And also to claim things out loud, to tell the public, this is where I'm going. I'm going to 50 K months. I'm going to seven figures a year. This is where we're going. Jump on. Come with me. Let's do this. That. Was huge to say the things out loud made them real. It also made it very challenging in a fun way to be like, yeah, okay, let's do this. Like we have witnesses now. How cool. Um, when I was about to hit 1 million in lifetime revenue, I made a big fucking deal about it. I had a whole week in telegram together called 1 million. I had a whole big party. I reflected on it. I shared the shifts I've been making. It was an incredible program and I unapologetically celebrated with my people, this huge, huge milestone that it would have been easy to just never acknowledge to brush under the rug or maybe acknowledge in like one piece of content. But instead I made it a big deal. And I'm really taking that mentality across my business. And that's part of why this 91, 000 sales month was possible is because I'm allowing things to be a big fucking deal. I'm allowing me to be a big deal. I don't need to play small. My offers don't need to play small. The impact I have doesn't need to be small. This can be big. We can be big. It is safe to take up space. It is safe to be audacious and bold. It is safe to say you want to be iconic. You want to have a legendary business. You want to make millions and that energetic shift partnered with the commitment that I had made previously with the pathways available for people to pay me in new ways was huge. My mentality around my goals shifted from, I need a spreadsheet with every. Scent mapped out where it's going to come from and trying to control it and try to control everything to a Inevitable mindset it is inevitable that I'm going to make seven figures in a year because it's just it is and for me It started by saying 50k months. It's inevitable that I'm gonna make 50k months. That's just going to be my normal I don't know when it's gonna happen. It might happen in October It might happen next October. It's going to happen. And so I'm going to go ahead and act that way. I'm going to go ahead and act and make the decisions. I know seven figure me. mix. If I know that when I have a seven figure business, I want to have these types of programs, then we're going to go and do that now, because having that is actually how we get there in the first place. If you've been around the block with me for a while, you've been in my next level, you program, you've heard me talk about the concept of you 2. 0 and your big picture vision. This is very much in line with that idea that you have to be you 2. 0, be your most iconic self in order to then have the things you actually want. You're not going to have a seven figure business by acting like someone who has a hobby. It's just not gonna happen. You've got to start acting like the person who has a seven figure business in order to have a seven figure dollar business. So these are the big shifts that led to this 91, 000 sales month, just three months postpartum. I was very supported and I had given myself space to integrate and figure out where I was going to take things. Then I actually invested in myself, put my money where my mouth is, and I made a commitment saying, we're going to do this. And then I had this huge identity shift. Up level for lack of a better word in how I was doing my business and myself that allowed the way I create content to be bolder, to be more direct, to claim space, to accurately convey my expertise in a way I had played small before. And this mindset is what's carrying me forward. As we go into 2025, I am determined to make, well, I should say not determined. That's very controlling energy, but my intention is to make. Seven figures in 12 months took me 10 years to make the first seven figures. We're going to 10 X that and do it in 12 months next and that feels fun and that feels activating and challenging and audacious and like ballsy as hell, which is really fun. And so just really being able to tap into this new wave of boldness, audacity, fun, energy, excitement and honestly, trusting myself. Having my own back has been a huge piece of this because if I'm going to make a 12, I might allow my clients to make 12 month commitments to me. They need to feel safe doing that, but I also have to have my own back to know I can do this. If I'm going to say, Hey, I'm launching a program called game plan. That's going to help you do A, B, and C, and we're just going to teach it live and we'll see how that goes. And it's going to be great. And we're just going to do the thing. I'm not sitting there. I'm not wasting time trying to make it all perfect. I'm not sitting there overthinking and waiting until it feels perfect. I'm trusting myself to figure it out and to like make it work and it's going to be amazing. But because I have that new level of self trust, because I know I have my own back to figure this out and to be resourceful and to show up for my clients and to show it for myself, I'm able to actually spend way less time planning, way less time thinking and more time doing. I sit down, I know exactly what to focus on. I do it. I move on. I'm not sitting here paralyzed with planning paralyzed by trying to set up a notion dashboard paralyzed by trying to wait until someone gives me permission to do whatever the fuck I want to do. I'm doing it. And the way I approach mentorship has shifted in that way as well. I'm not coming to my mentor saying, should I do this or this? It's, Hey, I'm doing this. Where are the gaps? How can I 10 X this? How can this be better, bigger, older. How can I refine my messaging on this? How can I get better at how I position this? How can I, uh, where are there gaps to make more money here that I'm not seeing, right? That's radically different. Then coming to a mentorship conversation saying, should I post on Instagram or tech talk? Should I do this or that? Very, very different. And so it has been really incredible to experience this quick of a transformation, but to also know that you can do this too. All it literally took was a decision, a commitment and the audacity. And here we are. September was an incredible month. October has been insane. And I can't wait to see where things go from here. So just know I'm here cheering you on.
